Executive Compensation Strategies in Periods of Disruption

It is a significant undertaking to effectively set goals, performance metrics, and targets when things are going well; but what about when the business is undergoing transformation? During these periods—for example major transactions, CEO transitions, business line restructuring, financial distress, or pro­longed macroeconomic volatility— it is critical that compensation committees consider the extent to which pay plans can or should be adapted.
